Welcome  To

The Irregulars are a non-geographically located LDWA walking group.  Whilst most of the members are affiliated to other LDWA groups a love of good and interesting walking, fun and eccentricity has attracted them to join the Irregulars.  The Group has stated specific aims which are itemised below:

Ø     A walk is organised generally on the third Wednesday of each month when any member (or guest) of the LDWA can attend.  Full details and descriptions of these are published in the Strider magazine.

Ø     At least one other walk (often more) are organised every month on weekends with only the title of the event published in the Strider.  These events are designed around published challenge walks (that is, we try not to clash with those published in the Strider).

Ø     Walks are organised every Wednesday (the ‘Buccaneer Club’) and all members are circulated regularly with details of these.

Ø     Regular events are organised abroad under the auspices of the Group.

Ø     Other events are organised abroad, usually IVV or IML weekends and are publicised to all members.  These are run privately by participating members and all are welcome.

Ø     A comprehensive magazine is published three times a year, usually available the month following the issue of the Strider.  This is in full colour and is a “right riveting read”, full of humour and totally irreverence.

Ø     Group merchandise is available including ‘T’ shirts, caps and windcheaters etc. etc.  You name it, we make it!

Ø     The Group organises four challenge walks a year, advertised in the Strider and IVV.

Ø     A badge and certificate are awarded for all walks, badges only on ‘Buccaneer Club’ events.

Ø     Badges are also awarded for specific numbers of events completed and participation in specialist events.

Ø     All walks which the club undertakes are circularised to all members with a comprehensive flyer, detailing all you wish to know about it, including the starting venue, distance and level of difficulty.  All walks are undertaken at a pace which is comfortable to participating members.

Ø     Whenever possible (that is most times!) a pub stop is grudgingly made at lunchtime of one hours duration - ‘Timothy Taylors’ wherever possible.
