DESCRIPTION : |
This is the first walking of Mike’s latest designed route. This one is situated wholly within an area of ancient deer forest, which covered some 45 square miles and was administered from Duffield. Our route will visit Quarndon Hill, the parishes of Weston Underwood, Windley & Turnditch to reach Alport Height (the high point of the day). We then move on to Alderwasley to pick up the Midshires Way, part of the old Portway, which will get us back to Duffield via the Chevin. |

HOW TO GET THERE : |
From the A6 at the southern end of Duffield locate minor road east to Makenley/Little Eaton. Follow this road over railway bridge and immediately turn right into Church Road (signed Sports Ground/Parish Church). If you cross the River Derwent you have gone too far! |
